What is it?
Invented by Neet Feet in 1989, the Logo Footprint, also known as the "talking sole", "talking footprint" or "die cut sole" has been an extremely popular optional feature and is available on all our imported styles. The logo footprint will leave an imprint of your logo or slogan
with each step in the sand or in soft dirt.
How does it work?
We use a steel rule cutting die to cut your logo or slogan out of the bottom layer of the sandal (the outsole) so that it leaves an impression of your logo in the sand. The logo footprint is an effective method of "green" advertising and leaves impressions wherever you walk on the beach.
Some designs work better than others, depending on the width and complexity of the design that has been cut away.
When we use a different color for the midsole (a colored layer of foam in the middle of the sandal sole), this midsole color will show through the cut out in the bottom of the sandal. For example, if your logo color was blue, we could make a white sandal with a blue midsole layer that would show the blue logo in the bottom of a white sandal.
Your customer service rep will be happy to discuss the specifics on all aspects of the logo footprint.
How do we make the cutting dies?
The logo footprint feature is created with a steel rule die, which has a sharp blade similar to a cookie cutter. The blades are hand made and using skilled workmanship, will be configured to replicate the details in your logo. While _some small details or elements may not be feasible_, we have been able to create complex cutting dies that our competitors cannot or will not make for you.
Some small details may not leave as effective an impression as other larger parts of the logo, but we will discuss these concerns when you submit your art.
How much does it cost?
We try to keep things simple, life is difficult enough these days. So, you may have any technically feasible design (or two) for one price: $295. There is never a running charge and if you re-order using the same design, there is no set-up at all on the re-order.
Also, you may have different logos in each foot with one easy to quote price.
Does it add to the production time?
Not at all.
What else do I need to know about the logo sole?
Many logos require some modification, depending on various details, as this process has some limitations. Some details may be too small to
cut out and may have to be eliminated. Some letters may require opening the enclosed spaces (as seen in stencils) or may need to be separated if they are too close together. Other elements may need to be widened in order to leave an effective impression. We attempt
to minimize the changes to all logos, and will discuss any needed changes with you prior to creating your proofs.
When we cut out the logo in your sandals, we make the design in reverse, so the imprint in the sand reads corectly. But. when we send your proof for approval, we show the logo sole as right reading, so you can better see the logo.
